SEO-friendly website development: built, migrated and fixed to rank.
Would you mind getting a new site without losing the traffic you have now?
I don't draw pretty mockups. I put the SEO inside the site: schema, Open Graph, speed, redirects, internal links and clean templates. Working with your developers, or with ours.
New site, redesign or migration: tell me what's planned and I'll tell you what can go wrong for SEO.
On this page
You're redesigning the website and don't want to lose SEO
“The new site looks great. Since launch, half the traffic is gone.”
Most redesigns that lose traffic fail for the same reasons: URLs change without redirects, pages that ranked get merged or deleted, and the new templates drop the headings, internal links and schema the old ones had. None of it shows in the design review.
| What goes wrong | What I do before launch |
|---|---|
| Old URLs return 404 | Full URL map and 301 redirects, tested on staging |
| Ranking pages disappear | Inventory of pages with traffic and links, kept or merged on purpose |
| Templates lose SEO elements | Titles, headings, canonicals and schema checked per template |
| Internal links break | Navigation and in-content links rebuilt to the new structure |
You're moving to a new platform, domain or host
“We moved to a new CMS and Google is still showing the old URLs.”
A site migration (CMS change, new domain, HTTPS, new host or a URL restructure) is the riskiest SEO moment in a website's life. I plan it, run the technical side with your developers and watch Search Console after launch until the new site has fully taken over.
What I do
- SEO migration plan and checklist
- Redirect mapping and testing
- WordPress and CMS migrations
- Server and hosting moves
- Post-launch monitoring in Search Console
Schema markup that's missing, broken or describing the wrong thing
“The site has a schema plugin, but Google shows no rich results.”
Schema markup tells Google and AI search tools what your business, products and pages are. Plugins and themes often output it half-finished, duplicated or contradicting the page. I implement it by hand where it matters, add Open Graph tags so links look right when shared, and validate everything.
What I do
- Organization & LocalBusiness
- Product, Offer & reviews
- Article, FAQ & Breadcrumbs
- Open Graph & social previews
- WordPress, Shopify & OpenCart schema
A WordPress or Shopify site that's slow and hard to crawl
“Every page loads a dozen plugins, and we're not sure which ones we need.”
WordPress SEO is rarely about installing another plugin. It's about removing what slows the site down, setting up caching correctly, fixing redirect loops and making sure Google spends its crawl on the pages that matter. On Shopify the work moves to the theme, apps and structured data. More on speed on the Core Web Vitals page.
What I do
- Plugin and app audit
- Caching and server setup
- Redirect loops and chains
- Sitemaps and IndexNow
- Theme-level SEO fixes
Launching a new website the right way
For new sites, SEO starts before design. This is the launch checklist I work through with every build.
- Keyword and page plan before the design starts
- Clean URL structure and site architecture
- One H1 and a logical heading hierarchy per template
- Schema and Open Graph on every template
- Canonicals, robots.txt, XML sitemap and hreflang
- Core Web Vitals in the green on mobile
- Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools set up
- Indexing checked in the first weeks after launch
Working with your developers, or with ours
If you already have a developer or an agency, I work alongside them: SEO requirements before the build, clear tickets during it and a technical review before launch. If you don't, I bring in the developers I work with, and I stay responsible for the SEO side.
What I don't do: visual design from scratch, branding or logos. If the site needs a new look, the design is done by a designer. I make sure it ranks.
How much does an SEO-friendly website cost?
Website projects built with SEO from day one, together with our developers. Redesign and migration support is quoted after a look at your current site.
