The starting point
The site was a fresh acquisition, bought for $4,000. It earned only $280 a month, with no content strategy, no content team and no negotiated affiliate terms.
What I did
The work focused on one question: which content already attracts people who are ready to buy, and how do we produce more of it?
Found the topical cluster that converts
The data showed one cluster, "Fixes & Releases", that matched what gamers search when something breaks or a new version comes out. That became the core of the strategy.
Built the strategy and the team
I wrote the content strategy and set up a 4-person team: one editor and three writers, with clear briefs and a publishing rhythm.
Negotiated better affiliate partnerships
With traffic growing, I negotiated privileged affiliate partnerships, so the same visits paid more per conversion.
Tracked revenue per article
Revenue was tracked by article, product, country and campaign, so we knew which pages to update and which topics to expand.
The result
In four months, monthly revenue went from $280 to over $12,000. In total, the site generated more than $100,000 before a Google core update hit the whole gaming niche.
- $280 a month
- No content strategy
- Standard affiliate terms
- No revenue tracking per page
- $12,000+ a month
- One clear topical cluster
- Privileged affiliate partnerships
- Revenue tracked per article and product
What made the difference
One cluster, not everything
Focusing on a single topic with buying intent beat publishing on every gaming subject.
Deals follow traffic
Once the numbers grew, better affiliate terms were possible, and they multiplied the result.
Diversify early
A core update later hit the whole niche. Revenue from one traffic source is never fully safe.
